JRNL_WRAP_ERROR on both DCs! |
|
|
Hi there
EventID 13568 from Source NtFrs means a JRNL_WRAP_ERROR.
http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=13568&eventno=1743&source=NtFrs&phase=1
this is no big deal, the AD can be replicated from a good DC.
but a customer has this error on both (ALL) his Win2003 DCs!
so one DC can't get a full replication from the other if I'm doing
a 'Journal Wrap Automatic Restore'!
whats the best way to clear the journal on the first DC so the second
can get a full replication?
I found this MSKB, but it doesn't really help me going on:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;292438
do the Burflags also work on Win2003? because the article only mention
Win2000...
any help appreciated!

Yes. The article just needs updating. Let MS know using the feedback at
the bottom.
In your case what you need to do is trace when the wrap happened and then
restore the SYSVOL (part of the system state). You'll have to use NTDSUTIL
to flag this as authorative once you've done the restore. Then you'll need
to set the BurFlags to Authorative (D4 off the top of my head). On the
other DC you set the Burflags to D2.
Have a search on the web, there's step-by-step instructions out there.
You'll find them on support.microsoft.com and jsiinc.com.

the procedure worked quite well, thanx again.
but the KB article has some really bad mistakes and typos...
I'll give MS feedback to fix it.

Good news you got it fixed.
And yes, please give MS the feedback. Everyone makes mistakes. Lets help
them fix it so others don't have problems.
Cheers,
