I want to create an account that our backup services will use to start. Can
anybody tell me if this account has to be a member of the administrators
group? Thanks

This should be described in Your backup software doumentation, but in
generall this account should not be placed in Administrators or domain
admins group - You have special group called Backup operators which
should be enugh to perform backup of the files.
