Hello All,

I am using ASP.NET, CS 2002 with FP1, Win 2003 server
I am planning to use the FixedShipping component in the shipping stage of
the Total pipeline.

The documentation mentiones that the FixedShipping component is for backward
compatibility with Site Server 3.0 only.
My questions are:
1- Will this component exist in the next version of CS.
2- The component implements the exact behavior I need. Should I be using
another component instead?

Carlos,

I can't give you official answers to your questions, but based on past
experience I would be surprised to find backward compatibility support three
releases later (CS2000, CS2002, CS2006). So my guess would be that Fixed
Shipping would not be supported in the next release. (But I could be wrong.)

I'm not aware of a component that takes its place although it seems like it
would be easy enough to develop one. Alternatively, depending on exactly how
you're using FixedShipping (i.e. which of its features you're taking
advantage of) it might be easy enough to configure the newer ship method
features to achieve the same behavior. Are you using it to apply a fixed
cost for a specific method or for any method? How many different ship
methods do you have?

Next release of Commerce Server will not support SiteServer 3.0 components shipped with CS2K and CS2K2 for backward compatibility.
Instead of using the fixed shipping component configure the new shipping component such that it behaves like a fixed shipping component.
