I need to un-install/re-install IIS on a 2000 Advanced machine that is part
of a cluster, but when I go to remove IIS, it tells me that Cluster service
is dependent on IIS. This cluster doesn't serve any IIS pages.

If I remove IIS, is it going to cause cluster problems?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you.

To elaborate, MSCS has an IIS resource-type that is installed by default in
the Window 2000 cluster. This is why it is complaining that MSCS depends
upon IIS. As long as you're not planning on running any clustered IIS
Virtual Servers, the IIS Common Files is all that is needed by MSCS.

If you actually clear the checkbox for all of IIS including the Common
files, you'll end up uninstalling MSCS too! So you can uninstall IIS without
any problems as long as you leave the IIS Common Files box checked.

Regards,
John

Thanks for the great info. Am I correct in assuming that when I re-install
IIS, I don't re-install the IIS Common files?
