Absolutely! Please share more details about your OS, servers, etc. and I'll
try to help further...

I also agree with Russ's assessment. Not only is NLB less expensive for an
FTP cluster, you can also scale this configuration up to 32 nodes if
necessary - far beyond the node limitations of Cluster Service (MSCS).

You will probably find this checklist helpful.
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/WindowsServ/2003/enterprise/proddocs/en-us/Default.asp?url=/resources/documentation/WindowsServ/2003/enterprise/proddocs/en-us/sag_MSCScheck_19.asp
Personally, I use NLB clustering for FTP (especially for read only access)
as it is cheaper than using server cluster hardware with shared disk.

I pointed you to the checklist already. The checklist has several links for
further info, so I am hoping you are moving forward without any problems.
As to your comment that it is what the client requested, I am all for
helping my clients. However, I am also all for educating my clients on their
options and saving them money and improving performance where I can. Please
don't take this wrong, but just because a client asks for something doesn't
mean it is the best solution. |
