I was wondering if anyone else has tried this.

I have configured 4 downstream printers that communication using a box by
Axis Communications to the SNA 4.0 servers. This box is an EBCDIC to ASCII
converter. On the SNA server we configured downstream links to the MAC
address of each box and then have downstream LU(s) assigned to each link. For
this to work we have DLC bound to the ethernet LAN interface that connects to
the LAN that the printer devices are on.

This has worked very well for us and has been reliable. The problem I have
now is moving to over to a WAN based solution where the servers are across
the WAN from the printer devices and also the new servers are running HIS
2000 instead of SNA 4.0. We are still testing but I was wondering if anyone
might have tried something like this?

Can't think of any technical reason why the DSPU stuff would be changed/broken
in HIS vs SNA 4. But then I've never used it....

The obvious stumbling block is the WAN link - you are using DLS/W or bridging
across the WAN link to pass the DLC traffic across I assume?!?

Thanks, we did some more testing today and I am going to blame it on the WAN
for now. The only other variable is I haven't done this with HIS before on
SNA 4.0 but I can't imagine why that would be an issue.
