I need to rebuild a Win2K3 cluster, running SQL 2000. One of the servers had to be rebuilt, and the backups are not going to help with this. So this node needs to be set up from scratch.

I need to install SQL without affecting the functional cluster. It's my understanding that I need to install SQL to the virtual server name for the cluster, or the SQL name. Won't this affect the cluster? Can I install SQL locally, then join or add it to the cluster some how?

Thank you,
Dwight
