DNS Setup With 1 Forest DC and 1 child-domain DC Questions |
|
|
Hi -
I'm new to this forum and had a couple of questions...
I am preparing to roll out a brand-new AD installation here at my office and I had a couple of questions about configuring secured DNS...
I currently have a forest (XYZ.com) with one DC (which is a DNS server)in it. I also have a child domain (paigroup.XYZ.com) in which I want to have another DNS server. What is the most reilable way to complete this using AD integrated zones? I've played around in a test environmet but haven't had too much luck.
If anyone answers, can you PLEASE, PLEASE try to be as descriptive as possible and if possible point me to a document that I can use as a checklist when setting everything up???
I'm not sure about how the DNS zones will communicate - which will be the primary (I assume the forest root) and which, if any, will be the additional primary zones and/or secondary zones for the child domain. I'm also really unsure of how I should configure any reverse lookup zones as well.
Both servers will be on the same network (192.168.0.xxx) and the root server will have to forward outbound DNS requests to our ISP's DNS servers. |
