VPN Issue |
|
|
Hope someone can help me out here.
Have a SBS 2003. Clients using XP Pro.
Laptop A - Old and being replaced. VPN works like a champ on it.
Laptop B - New replacement for A - same user. Joined laptop to domain and works like a champ while in the office.
Have a Watchguard SOHO 6 firewall with VPN. Installed their MUVPN client on Laptop B and configured to match Laptop A.
Offsite, Laptop B can make the VPN connection and I can ping the server and default gateway on the 'trusted network'. But nothing else. No mapped drives, open email and it crashes. Try typing name of server in run command and nothing. Try typing ip of server in run and get a username/password window, but her credentials as well as those of the server admin do not work.
Someone on the Watchguard forum asked about SP2 firewall. Not sure that this is it, since both laptops have it on and its controlled by Group Policy. Although I figued tomorrow I will turn it off and see if that migh be it, but can't see how as Laptop A has no problems with the VPN and the firewall is on on that laptop too.
Another suggestion I got was related a KB from MS about MTU. Figured I might try their hotfix for that as well.
I am somewhat of a noob, so I am looking for other solid suggestions as well. I need to get this fixed.
As far as I can tell all TCP/IP settings are the same. I haven't done any line by line looking in the reg of the two though and don't want to do that.
What am I missing here. Sure it is easy fix, but need direction.
Thanks in advance!
If there is anything else you need to know, let me know and I will find out and post back. |

MTU |
|
|
As for the MTU setting, that might be it. I know when I worked at my previous company, I had VPN access and DSL. Then all of a sudden it stopped working. I changed my MTU settings using DRCTP (which you can download, just find it off of google), and it worked.
The issue you might be having is that the older modem sent the messages with a lower MTU than the new modem.
Hope this helps.
