"The cluster domain does not exist" ??? |
|
|
I have created a two node cluster and am trying to add a third node to it.
For the sake of this discussion, lets call the two nodes Node1 and Node2.
When I attempt to add Node3, I get the following error associated with
Node2:
"The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted"
There are no errors displayed for Node1 or Node3, just this error regarding
Node2. This error causes the attempt to add Node3 to fail. The cluster
otherwise appears to be working properly but for some reason I cannot add a
third node to it. Does anyone know what might be causing this error? |

Peter,
This seems like domain connectivity related issue. Moreover I would expect
the issue to be with N3 and not N2 since it is already part of the cluster.
In any case, to start troubleshooting the issue, can you please ensure that
you are able to ping to N1 and N2 from N3 and also running command "nltest
/sc_query:<domain name>" on N3 succeeds without any issues? More information
about nltest.exe can be found in article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;158148
Hope this helps.
