Modify any static ip addresses and staticdns mappings and create a new dhcp
scope (If using dhcp and dynamic dns). I would flush the dns cache on any
server you have in this sub-net if possible, otherwise you will have to wait
for the TTL to expire on any machines. The best time to do this would be
after hours.
ipconfig /flushdns
That should do it for you.

Sorry yes you do need to modify the sites but this won't effect routing of
your ip (Stopping pinging.).
Did you modify the gateway address on the changed ip machines?
start up a cmd prompt and type
tracert (and the name of the server) It should show where the failure is
occuring.
