I have 2 books on DNS and still can't seem to understand this:
If I have a domain wxyz.com and I'm having someone host my website at
www.wxyz.com, I know that I must have them place a pointer record in their
DNS for my email to reach my mail server which I host.
I know this because I've been told. I was also told not to notify the
provider or my registrar because it is unnecessary.
My question is, does the email continue to find my server by this pointer
record placed on the "Hosts" server, or after a few days does the change
"replicate" to other servers and find my email server directly?
Can I simply notify my provider and not the "Host" of my website?
I hope I have worded this clearly, I've never been so confused. |
