Cannot add to domain: "error code 0x0000267c dns_error_no_dn |

Hello y'all,
I fear the worst that on a small 1 DC Windows Server 2003 std. sp1 LAN that
the DNS is hosed here are the two problems:
1- clients and server cannot communicate i.e. unable to \\server\c$ or
\\client\c$
2- when you try to add a machine to the domain you get this error message
error code 0x0000267c dns_error_no_dns_servers
You can ping everything and DNS, workstation, server, computer browser
services all running and DNS passes a simply query test plus DCDiag does not
show anything wrong. No firewall blocking either.
Please give ideas I am most grateful.
