I have Win2K3 running with AD Integrated zones. I have a Root/Child
network in place with all of my network objects in the child domain. What I
am seeing are duplicate IP addresses belonging to two, three or more hosts
in the registration lists in my MMC. I have DHCP running and what appears
to be happening is if a system is rebuilt, retired or replaced the old
system remains registered with the old address but some other system
eventually gets the free address and it appears in the registration as well.
NSLOOKUPs now shows me all of them as having the same IP address. Would an
ipconfig /flushdns work in this situation or is there something I am missing
with the dynamic setup of my DNS zones?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated -

Jon

It's not something you are missing with the dynamic setup of your DNS zones
so much as it is two new things that you'll need to do.

1) Configure aging/scavenging on the properties of you AD/DNS zone via the
DNS management console (you'll have to enable this on the properties of each
DNS server object itself as well).
2) On the DHCP server, ensure "Discard A and PTR records when lease is
deleted" is enabled under the DHCP server properties > DNS tab.
