sbs2003 bluescreens during tape backup |
|
|
Hi,
I am experiencing intermittent crashes of our server during large
volume data copies (SBS Backup to SCSI tape device) I have taken steps
to ensure I am using the latest firmware, OS patches and drivers but
this is not resolved the problem. Normally there are no errors in event
log apart from one that says 'the previous shutdown was unexpected' but
sometimes the server has the folowing error in event log:
Event ID: 9
Source
aac
Type
Error
Description
The device, \Device\Scsi\aac1, did not respond within the timeout
period.
Sometimes server carries on and completes the backup but mostly it
crashes and restarts, sometimes it crashes and all I am faced with is a
black screen which means i have to turn it off and on to bring it back
up. I do an NT backup of my other w2k server to the hard drive of this
SBS server and that normally works fine but SBS backup to tape causes
the box to crash (not every day though which is even more confusing).
Can anyone help please? I have tried everything, latest drivers, BIOS,
firmware upgrades, memory replacement etc. Thank you |
