I have sbs 2003 Prem edition with only sql server installed and it is the
domain controller. I have a 2nd machine with windows 2003 standard edition
installed and it is adjoined to the sbs 2003 server and is suppose to be
replicating the active directory.

Questions:
1. Is it okay to install the new service pack 1 on these machines? what
should I be aware of?
2. what is the best way to create a backup in case problems arise?
3. Is it easy to remove the service pack if issues arise?

Built-in NT Backup should be fine. Make sure you take full backup with
System State.

During installation of SP1 keep to default settings. It will create a backup
of the files being replaced, so the rollback is possible.
