User cannot get out of Offline status

Hello,

I have a user running Communicator 2005. His is unable to change staus from
Unknown and all contacts at grayed out. He has been able to function
previously. Where can I look to see what is stuck?

There are 850+ users on the LCS 2005, single domain, Exch 2003.

LCS is 2005 v2.0.5470.0, users Communicator is 2005 / 1.0.559.

All users login with their sip address and look for the fqdn of the server
(which exists in DNS, too).

I mis-typed his status - he is always Offline. When I attempt to IM him, I
get the "user is offline message". When I attempt to add him to my contacts,
he's get the reciprocal message and can click OK, but then it errors out and
disappears.

What version of LCS are they using?
How are they connecting to the server?

Are you running LCS 2005 Enterprise Edution or LCS 2005 Standard Edition?

Make sure that he is connecting to the server with the FQDN of the server
(server.company.local) and not just the server name or the IP.
