Share with 'Access Denied' error |
|
|
Hi,
I've a big problem with a Windows Server 2003 cluster: there is a share on
it that sometimes becomes not accessible to create something on its root, but
in a subdirectory it is possible, although 'share' and 'NTFS' security
settings are ok.
Users receive "Access denied" warning; in "Event Viewer" there are following
errors: in 'System' there are: 'Event ID: 40961' warning, and 'EventID:
11160' information with "The system failed to register pointer (PTR) resource
records (RRs) for network adapter with settings: [...]" in description.
Thanks. |

| Check the permissions on the share and make sure that the cluster service account has permissions to create shares on that volume. i.e. Make sure that the local node admin group has full control on that volume. |

Do you own the Reverse DNS Zone? Has the share been registered in DNS? Do
you have Dynamic Update turned on for that zone?
Cheers,

I forget that the thing that makes me suspicious is that often there is the
'40961' error in System events, with the description: "The Security System
could not establish a secured connection with the server
DNS/NameServer.Domain. No authentication protocol was available."
Thanks. |

Hi,
first of all thanks for your fast reply. Unfortunately our Society does not
manage DNS service (and the one that 'control' the DNS does not help us to
make our jobs). There is something that I can do at 'cluster level'? Thanks
again.
