Twoway trust with a domain that does not have web |

Hi
I am trying to setup a trust between our domain company.com and 1 of our
satelite offices that has a wan IP address but does not have a proper DNS
name (london.company.co.uk.local).
There is a VPN connection between the 2 sites with routing working ok but if
I use netdom to try and setup the trust it does not find the domain.
I have tried adding the following to the lmhosts file on both servers using
the wan ip and the lan ip which can be pinged across the VPN connection
192.0.1.1 dc #PRE #DOM:company
192.0.1.1 "company \0x1b" #PRE
# IP Address "123456789012345*7890"
192.0.0.1 lonserver #PRE #DOM:london
192.0.0.1 "london \0x1b" #PRE
# IP Address "123456789012345*7890"
I have tried setting up the trust from the main office dc as well as the
satelite office dc but does not work.
Can this be done and if so any help would be appreciated
