FE Server Config fails to Director |

I have a customer who we are setting up a Pool to SE Director to AP...
The problem is, their hardening process seems to be breaking the
application. I have relaxed much of their hardening, but I have not been able
to find it all and their security group has not been playing nicely. My
current dilema sits around the FE to Director communication. When the FE is
running lcsdiag and checks the global route, it finds it but is unable to
determine the server type. What is being quereied on the remote server and by
what means? Is it completely WMI? What registry key is it checking? What
rights is it attempting to check it via?
