I am attempting to use the FSMT to move a public directory from one server to
another. I have installed the FSMT on a 3rd server to run the migration. I
am not planning on using the DFS consolidation option for this move. When I
go through the wizard I get two errors. I select the source server and the
share i want to migrate. When I hit continue to validate it states that
'Settings cannot be successfully validated" the specific errors are Cannot
read volume name from volume mount point (\\target server\directory)" and
System error 4390. I have looked at the permissions and I am able to get to
the source and target with no issues via net use or pushd. Thanks

Hello,

The File Server Migration Wizard is intended to run on the target file
server. So I would like to suggest that you run the FSMT tool on the target
machine and try again.

For a full list of requirements, see the topic "System and account
requirements" in the File Server Migration Toolkit Help.
