I have an OU called OfficeUsers in it i have a security group that is called
FrontDesk.
Some of the members of that front desk group are not users that are in the
OfficeUsers OU.

Will the members of the security group FrontDesk have the GPO applied to it
that is applied to the OfficeUsers OU?

Thanks for the fishing lesson. I have been on my own boat for about 10 years
and at one time I knew the answer to this question. I have the GPMC already
but was more looking for a reply rather than looking it up -Thinking that
there has to be someone with this knowledge off the top of their head. Yes I
know I am being lazy, but why reinvent the fishhook?

Once you start working with GPO's these kind of questions always start
popping up. I would recommend the Group Policy Management Console:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0a6d4c24-8cbd-4b35-9272-dd3cbfc81887&DisplayLang=en

This is a free tool from Microsoft. Once you install and open it you can run
the Group Policy Results Wizard that appears in the bottom left of the tool.
Then you can type in a users name and see what policies get applied.

...no I didn't give you the answer directly. Yes, I am teaching you how to
fish. : )

No. GPO is not applied to groups. Only users and/ or computers.

If you filtered the GPO to only apply to members of this group, it would
only apply to the users in this group within that OU.
