Saving a Word Document |
|
|
I check a Word doc out of a SharePoint doc library, and edit it in Microsoft
Word. The workspace pane has a "Check In" link. When I press it, I receive
the following error:
[Microsoft Word]_SaveDoc ERROR: 4172: File not found
Does anyone have a clue what this means and what I can do to repair the
problem?
TIA for your time.

I've heard of it, but never a solution. If you open a ticket with
Microsoft, they may have confirmed a bug, and they may further have a
hotfix to help fix the problem.
The only workaround is to close Word, and when prompted, choose to save
the document before you close. Oddly enough, it'll save. Then, you can
go back to WSS and check it in.
Are you using any kind of proxy between you and your SharePoint server?

No, no proxy. It could be a problem with my local Office install, because
others in my group can save without incident. I think one other user in the
enterprise has experienced this error.
I'm just too busy to attempt a re-install of Office right now.
