Thank you for your posting!
Check Service Status is not the script name.
I recommend that you can try to download and use the Management Pack Wizard
to create a Service monitoring MP.

This KB article appears to spell out my solution exactly except that it
references a script named "Check Service Status" that apparently should be
installed but it isn't. I have two different Management groups and
neither
has the script.
Does anybody know where I can get a copy of that script and how to import
it
