I need to monitor the status of a service. I'm looking at KB298484 "How to
use a Timed Event processing rule to check the status of a service"

This KB article appears to spell out my solution exactly except that it
references a script named "Check Service Status" that apparently should be
installed but it isn't. I have two different Management groups and neither
has the script.

Does anybody know where I can get a copy of that script and how to import it
into my MS

Hello,

Thank you for your posting!

Check Service Status is not the script name.
I recommend that you can try to download and use the Management Pack Wizard
to create a Service monitoring MP.

If you have any questions, please feel to let me know. I am glad to be of
assistance.
