Alerts are not working correctly. When a user signs up for an alert, he/she
recieves email that he/she has been signed up for the alert, but does not
recieve alerts. Just yesterday it appeared to be working... However, today
they are just stuck in the e-mail queue. Both email and web-base alerts are
not being sent.

Alerts are based on the Search Engine crawling the content , Have you tried
forcing an incremental crawl in the day to see if that sends the alerts ? If
it does then consider adding some additional search schedules.
