Re: Office Web Componentes |

Hi Engelbert,
Hi Kevin,
I am with you regarding the contents of the Office
Web Components. But a client of us told me that
he is having a client-machine (Windows XP SP2) with
Office 2000 installed and he does see the Link
"Upload multiple documents".
He is running a (simple) WSS-Site with SP1 being
installed.
Any suggestions what might be the reason that he
is having that link?
Thank for further information,
Peter |

I see two links; check one and assume the other is the equivalent client one
....
That explains why I was 2 minutes earlier in posting :)

Neither give you Upload Multiple Documents. For that you need Office 2003
Pro on the client.
(One is for server install; one for client install)

"With which of these two packages can I do the "Upload multiple
documents" with Office 2000 machines?"
Neither. It is Office 2003 that is required on the client machine to get the
multiple upload option.
Those two packages below are the "standalone" and SharePoint versions of
Office Web Componenets which basically give you the ability to publish
charts etc. from Excel to web servers. The SharePoint versions wraps this
functionality in Web Parts.

I think your client is confused?
http://www.microsoft.com/office/sharepoint/prodinfo/officeintegration.mspx
You can read this document to get a comparison of the features of the
difference versions of Office with SharePoint.

I think I've seen something somewhere that this might happen if you have
installed only one 2003-level "Office" product (Visio ??) or even that it
happens if you have installed a trial version of a 2003 product.
But they may well be both urban rumors.

Maybe this is the reason. I'll check this at our client.
Thanks, Engelbert and Shane,
