Urgent - Unable to add new column to newly created Document |
|
|
I have recently build a server installing Microsoft Sharepoint 2003 for a demo.
Not having any training, I mamged to create an internal site on the top
level through Windows Services. By using a third party application document
will be exported directly into sharepoint. To reflect the columns of how the
document will be searched and received I created a second document library
and tried to add additional columns as the Domain Administrator.
Within the central admin section, I cannot add adny new columns
Can anyone help |

I did try to use the "modify settings/add columns" but when the changes were
made and press "ok" at the end of the page nothing happened not even an error
message was displayed
Has anyone experienced this problem or is there something I am missing??

The normal way to add new columns to a doc lib is to open the Document
Library; click on Modify Settings and then use Add Columns in the section
about halfway down.
Are you saying this wasn't working ?

Modify settings needs appropriate rights.
It's probably one of those annoying things that let you change something but
don't let you save your changes.
However in that case it should after your OK ask you again to log in (with a
suitable Name/Password that does have enough rights) 3 times.
If it didn't even ask you that, I'm as baffled as you are at what's going
on.

Any suggestions as to what I can start checking?
Where would be best to go to check permissions ?

Any of you bods out there have any ideas as to why I can't "edit/add columns"
in my document library I created as the domain administrator.
Sharepoint is proving to be very fustrating to use and not finding any help
or answers to my problem.
Surely if I can create a new library why cant I edit it in any way????
Having spent 2 days on this ive given up
