There are two typical reasons for this error:
1) There were modifications made to the default "site definition" used
by the sites on the source server.
2) A service pack / hotfix was installed to the source or destination
server that put it out of sync with the other. Both servers need to
have the same hotfixes / service packs installed before you can do any
kind of migration like this.
Sometimes, this error can occur if the target site has already been
assigned a template, but usually, the error is more verbose in that case.

These sites don't have any webpart or 3rd party templates.
