Can MOM be installed on SBS 2003 and monitor the SBS 2003 box, Exchange 2003
and SQL 2000 on the SBS box? If so does the default installation configure
everything automatically or is there a lot of manual adjusting required
after installation? The SBS 2003 has dual XEON 3G with 4G of RAM and 1TB of
disk and runs at about 3-5% CPU utilization so there is plenty of available
resources on the box.

Hello,

Thank you for your posting!

You can not install MOM on SBS, But you can use MOM to monitor SBS.

If you have any questions, please feel to let me know. I am glad to be of
assistance.

Hi Bill,

This is not exactly true, in theory, there is nothing to stop you loading a
full version of MOM 2005 on your SBS Server, it could utilise the SQL Server
database available with Premium and could happily manage all of your
applications and other servers, as well as provide you with a full reporting
capability.

However, for a smaller environment you may want to consider MOM Workgroup
Edition, it is limited to 10 servers, uses MSDE as its database backend but
unfortunately comes without the Reporting functionality (or connector
framework).

I believe Dell are even offering this as an option on some of their SBS
servers packages now.

I hope this helps,

Gordon.
