I know this is not a pure Sharepoint error – however, I am lost as what to do
and hope that someone else has seen this problem with their F5 - Sharepoint
farm.

We are having a problem installing Sharepoint 2003 behind a F5 Load
Balancer. Our setup is:
1. F5 Load Balancer
2. 2 Web-Front Ends
3. 1 Index
4. SQL Server Cluster (active-Passive)

Installing SP, always stops @ the 52% range and error states to look @ logs.
I see one error that states “Unable to retrieve group membership from Active
Directory service for this group” this seems to happen @ the point when the
install is attempting to connect to the SQL DB in order to create the
configuration DB.

However, the funny thing is that we can point the install to a DB server
OUTSIDE of the F5 VLAN and it works fine. We have followed the install guide
that F5 and Microsoft created, however, we are still unable to get it to
install. Has anyone ever come across this when using Sharepoint and F5’s?
