I have a web application that requires a user's id and password. These users
are created in AD but do not necessarily logon to any machine in the AD
domain. Their accounts exist only for authentication to this web page. When
the user account is created the "user must change password at next logon" box
is checked. However, when a new user logons on to the web page with their
initial password it is accepted and access granted but they are not prompted
to change their password. We are using basic authentication on the web site.
Any suggestions on how to force users to change their passwords the first
time they logon would be appreciated.

The application they are logging onto must support this. It sounds as though
your web app does not.

Could there be an ActiveX component or something that would allow the browser
to check AD for any user account changes, etc?
