Hi

What is the best way to remove AD from a running server ? Is it to run
dcpromo on the server ? For dns what is the prefered way ?

Yes, DCPROMO is the preferred way.

Yes, Run DCRPOMO is a recommended method. You may demote it with the
general procedure. The detailed method is as the following:

Note: We highly recommend perform system backup for security purpose.
