Hello,

In the process of removing a site from Active Directory, a DC
controller was demoted and removed from the domain.

It turns out this server was running SUS for the Forest (single domain,
now only two sites)

We have 3 DC's running Win2003, a few more 2003 member servers, a few
2000 member servers, and almost 100 XP clients.

What is my best bet in restoring the SUS services to the environment.
I would like to use Windows Server 2003 SUS but the previous server was
running Windows 2000's version of it.

Another note is that GP enforces the SUS settings.

Thanks in advance...my experience with SUS is limited and I want to
make the right decisions when trying to correct this issue.

Thank you.

Hi,
Microsoft has released WSUS which is a replacement for SUS as Microsoft will
be dropping support for SUS on December 6, 2006.
WSUS will run on 2000 as well as 2003 servers.
All you need to do is install WSUS on any of your servers and change group
policy to get all of your workstations to use new server.
