Hi we have two sharePoint enviornments Development and Production. I have
taken a backup of the three sharepoint databases SITE, SERV and PROF. I want
to restore them onto the development machine as a backup to the current
production structure. I have restored the databases to the development server
and tried running the restore from the administraation pages but it falls
over after 30 secs with the following error

I verified that the exact number of stored procedures were in the restore
databases as the originals but after the failed restore the number was less
i.e. some were deleted

If anyone could shed some light on this I would appreciate it..

Since you got the SITE, SERV, and PROF databases just restore it to SQL and
in your sharepoint box just restore a portal. You might also need to create
a new config db though.

I think you need to look a little further down in your error log. There is
a more descriptive error message usually.

Hi I have tried what was suggested i.e. restoring the portal by entering in
the database information on the restore pages..no joy

I've looked through the error log and can't find any other reference to an
error
I've included it, so if there is something obvious that i'm missing please
let me know

Post your SQL Log. Looks like that error you first posted is still there. On
a side note did you create a new config db?

was in a rush so ended up removing SP from Dev machine and reinstalling it....
no problems with the restore now
