HELP - |
|
|
Greetings all,
I'm still working to figure out how to compose/define Content Sources
that reference stuff in the portal itself - i.e. addresses with
"sps://" in them.
Has anyone come across documentation which clearly describes this
protocol, or what ELSE is available using "sps://" as the starting
point?
I've checked Sharepoint 2003 CHM files, Microsoft documentation, and
just about everywhere else I can think of - including this forum. Still
I find no references.
Here are my questions:
=========================
q1 - WHAT is meant by "sps://<sharepointservername>/site$$$people" ?
q2 - HOW can I modify this to (somehow) point ONLY at PROFILE
information, and NOT the personal sites content as well?
q3 - WHAT is meant by
"sps://<sharepointservername>/site$$$site/scope=$$$default$$$
q4 - WHAT is mean by "$$$" anyway?
q5 - WHY do I get NO returns when I do an internet search for "sps://"
or "site$$$people"?
(instead the browsers DELETE the "://" portion and "$$$"
portions, and I get a lot of
useless information).
Any pointers to truly useful documentation is most appreciated.
Cheers,

Re: HELP - |

I don't know what is meant by the $$$ stuff other than those are the
starting points for the People and Site Directory content sources
respectively. They are probably registered against specific protocol
handlers that know how to crack open all things people and all thinsg site
directory.
To exclude MySites from the People content source you can add an exclusion
rule for http://<server>/personal/* on the index it is contained in (usually
Portal Content)

Re: HELP - |

Hi KL,
Thanks for the reply - but I really NEED to understand what the $$$ and
sps:// actually mean - as well as what OTHER options can go in the URL
itself.
My goal is to RE-define the "Address" of the default Content Source
"People", so that I only get the MySite Public Profiles data.
I'm convinced THIS will give me (and everyone else) what we all really
EXPECT when we do an SPS "People" Search Scope search - just a list of
the PEOPLE whose profiles contain the keywords I've entered...
ANY documentation at all which might shed some light on $$$ and sps://
would be most welcome.
FYI - I already tried the Exclusion Rule you suggested, but it's my
understanding that Exclusion Rules are tied to the entire Content Index
- NOT to a singular Content Source. This means excluding the personal
sites would mean they're excluded from the ENTIRE Content Index (read
"the ENTIRE site") - something not really desireable...
