Microsoft Office SPS 2003 Client -- where the heck is it? |
|
|
Hi guys,
In SPS 2003 I'm trying to change the Document Library Settings, but
when I select Manage Document Library Security I get a message about
needing the Document Library Component for Microsoft Office SharePoint
Portal Server 2003. I've Googled this plus checked on Microsoft's
site, but I can't find it.
I found many mentions about this being caused by running beta software,
but I'm on a 2 month install of MS Windows XP Pro with MS Office 2003
(all updates) and no beta copies of anything have been installed on my
system.
Can someone point me to where I can download this or of another fix?
Thanks --

Has this ever worked correctly? If not, I would start with the SharePoint
Portal Server Administrators Guide. There are several sections on
configuring the Backward Compatible Document Libraries. The BCDL does not
install by default, and it sounds like the error message is telling you that
it wasn't installed.
BTW, unless there is a compelling reason, you might want to rethink whether
you want to use the BCDL. It's old technology and isn't likely to be around
past this version of SharePoint.
