Hello

I'm trying to launch Central Administration of SharePoint Portal Server and
I get:
Server Application Unavailable
The web application you are attempting to access on this web server is
currently unavailable. Please hit the "Refresh" button in your web browser
to retry your request.

Administrator Note: An error message detailing the cause of this specific
request failure can be found in the application event log of the web server.
Please review this log entry to discover what caused this error to occur.

In my browser I can see the address:

http://localhost:20228/sps/Default.aspx

Where could be the bug. As I remember my SPPS was running but I didn't try
to get it from month.

Best Regards

Dariusz,

You may want to check that the Application Pool for the SharePoint
Virtual Server is started, and that the Application Pool's identity
account doesn't have an expired password. You can check these issues
from the IIS Manager MMC snap-in.

Hi

I must admit that I cannot see any Application Pool in my IIS console.
I have got IIS 6.0 on Win2003Server. As I remember I saw it formerly but
now - there is no AppPool - is it possible that I turned it off somehow?

When you open the IIS manager, and you expand the local computer icon, you

should see three folders: 1) Application Pools, 2) Web Sites, Web Services.
Look in the first folder.

I checked "isolation mode" formerly to tie up Apache (needed by an
e-learning application) and it was the reason I could not see Application
Pools - now I can see AP.
Within AP I can see:

CentralAdminAppPool
DefaultAppPool
MSPS2003AppPool
MSSharePointAppPool
MSSharePointPortalAppPool
share1
StsAdminAppPool

Firstly: I'm not sure if SPS virtual directory should be an application -
application name: SPS or it should be just virtual directory (in my case SPS
is application - changed by hand)
Secondly: my SPS is tied to MSSharePointPortalAppPool then after:
http://localhost:20228/sps/Default.aspx I got:

Server Error in '/SPS' Application.
