We use MondoSoft Mondo Search. It works well with CMS and it filters search
results based on your subscriber permissions.

Hi,
there are a couple of search engines tailored for MCMS. E.g.:
- Mondo Search
- Coveo Search
- SharePoint Search
Cheers,
Stefan

The factors you are asking for are hard to tell in advance. It all depends
on which pages you have in your index, what the exact content of the pages
are, and what the query string the users are entering.
I am working on adding the free edition of the Coveo search to our site. I
know there is a feature in this version to use synonyms. If a user enters
one version of the word, it will automatically add the alternate spellings
in to expand the results.
