Internet explorer administrator problem |
|
|
On my SBS server Internet explorer hangs if I try to use it when logged
on as administrator (error message as below). There is no problem if I
log on as another user. I assume there must be a group policy problem or
something similar but any suggestions where I should look would be
appreciated
Regards
Richard
The description for Event ID ( 1000 ) in Source ( Microsoft Internet
Explorer ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the
necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages
from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event:
iexplore.exe, 6.0.2800.1106, wininet.dll, 6.0.2800.1511, 00061b7d. |

Richard,
I would run hijack this, to see if there are any processes starting with
IE/Explorer which should not be there. There is no likely GPO to do this,
particularly when you are receiving that error.

I have looked through the log for hijackthis and there is nothing that
stands out. In any case I would have expected this sort of problem to
have affected all users rather than just the administrator account.
Any more ideas?

How about resetting all IE properties to default (you may guess, this is me
running out of ideas ;))

Fortunately I have managed to resolve this problem. |
I went to winnt.sbs/profiles/administrator/local settings/ and deleted
all the contents of the history and temporary internet files (except for
index.dat which I couldn't delete). This has cured the problem
