count in share point portal |

I have a list with the following structure
Computer Name | SO | Ip|
------------------------------
adrian | XP | 192.168.100.100
....................etc..
How can i count (and report) how many XP computers, 98 computers....

Hi Ionut,
You can do this by switching to the Datashett-View of
the list, set a filter according to your needs and add
the totals. In the last row (totals) you can specify for
each cell the function to be used. With one of the listed
functions you can count the number of listed items.

If you are facing the datasheet view you can click on
"Task Pane", which will be opened on the right of the
datasheet view.
You can now export the list to excel, create a pivot
table etc. |

can i publish this on the portal...and the list remain some way connected to
this pivot table ?

Hi Ionut,
if you create a new view of your list, and use the "group by" option to
group by "SO", SharePoint will give you the count of items for each SO.
If you need to change the look, you can then use FrontPage to transform your
view into a data view Web Part.
