SMTP Server Relay Question |
|
|
Hello everyone!
I have a windows 2000 server behind a firewall. The internal address is
192.168.1.5 and the external address is 64.213.230.5.
I want to prohibit anyone from relaying unless they authenticate.
The problem is, the ONLY way I can relay is if I enter my DHCP address as
one of the single computers allowing me to relay.
NO MATTER what I do, I can't seem to get it to allow me to relay if I
authenticate.
I am so tired of trying that I am willing to pay someone to help me. If you
think you can fix my problem, it's worth 20.00 to me if you can use terminal
services to connect to my server and fix it for me. I can pay with paypal.
Any takers?

1) Go to the properties of the SMTP Virtual Server in Exchange System
Manager.
2) Go to the access tab > Relay button. You can modify the relay list
there.

Hi!
Of course I did that. That's how to configure it. My point is, all the
different configurations will not allow me to use user name and password for
authenticating. The only way I can relay is if I let everyone relay OR if I
enter my DHCP address for a single Computer.
I want the option of anyone that authenticates to be able to Relay. I can't
get it to do that for me.
Can anyone help?

"Of course I did that. That's how to configure it." Ummm...your did not
state that in your post.
So, do you have an SMTP Connector installed? Look through the properties of
that.

Probably not. Many of us here in the windows.server.networking group know
Exchange on a functional level but for the most part not to the that of
those who hang out in the Exchange groups. I recommend you pose your
question over in one of these:
microsoft.public.exchange.admin
microsoft.public.exchange.misc.

This is NOT an Exchange issue. This is IIS SMTP on MS Windows 2000 Server.
