I am now using MOM 2005 and wanted to know what rule / management pack
should I configure or install to capture invalid logon attempts for Active
Directory. In MOM 2000 there was already a canned report to handle this
type of info...has this changed in MOM 2005? So once again, I would like
to capture and report on Invalid Logon Attempts and Active Directory User
Changes.

Thanks

Rustom

There is not a management pack or reports to perform security auditing in
MOM 2005. However, it is a relatively simple matter to enable auditing on
your agents and create rules to alert on the various audit events that you
are interested in. You can use the Management Pack Wizard in the Resource
Kit to create a management pack for this purpose. You can then write custom
reports on this data using the steps outlined in Chapter 8 (Reporting) of
the Management Pack Developer Guide. Let me know if you have further
questions.
