Is there anyway to search the contents of ONE document library within an area
that may have multiple document libraries? I do not want to create custom
code - I just want a targeted search. I realize I can move the document
library to an Area and create a scope for just that area; however, that isn't
the way we want to do it.

I've tried setting up a content source for the document library (via url),
but when it crawls the document library, it ends up crawling the entire
portal. I've tried setting up a content source for the document library (via
UNC path -- web folder), but it still eventually crawls the entire portal.

I've made changes to path inclusions/exclusions; however, this isn't
realistic given that we may want other document libraries indexed in the same
manner and adding exclusions would potentially affect how they are indexed.

Does this question make sense? Is anyone else attempting to do something
similar? Has anyone heard of someone trying to do this?

Thanks in advance!

Whilst I haven't tried to set up a scope for an individual library you might
like to try a different approach to achieving the same result if it is
indeed not possible? How about using an advanced search and using the URL
property to scope the search?

If this works for you then you can save the search as a link making it
simple to recall and do subsequent searches.
