STS to WSS Migration - Documents not migrated |
|
|
Hey guys, I posted this message last week under a different subject. Didn't
get any responses, thought I would attempt it again (please don't throw
anything at me). I really need to correct this. I have searched everywhere
and haven't found anything relative.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I recently migrated a Sharepoint Team Services site to a WSS site on a
different server. All seemed to go well, I thought... Until I checked some
of the files in the document libraries. I have 3 document libraries where
all of the files that where migrated show 0 bytes as the file size. In
another library, 3 of 249 files have 0 bytes. The document library list
and column info is all there, and they show up in Explorer View, but the
document properties show 0 bytes.
In my smigrate_log file on the target machine, at the end, I have some
messages (approximately 234) that state:
Failure writing to target file.
Retrying, skipping bad file (op000000.000)
(The file name above changes with each successive line - just the first two
characters, the remaining portion of the file name is always 000000.000)
I can see in the smigrate_log file on the source computer where the files in
these document libraries were backed up.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to correct it?
Is there a way to backup / export a document library from the STS site and
restore / import it into the WSS site?
Thanks

I have corrected the issue by uploading all of the missing documents
manually, by using the Upload Multiple Documents feature. Although I had
over 700 documents to upload, the process went very smoothly.
Although my method resolved my problem, it doesn't explain why the documents
did not migrate in the first place.
