CMS problems on the user end while server is staging |
|
|
I'm posting to find out if it may be a hardware issue with our CMS 2001
that's causing the problems described below.
During our midday staging process (the only one scheduled during business
hours; our management would like more staging times during regular business
hours), web client users get a lot of pointer problems related to resources
(such as images and file attachments) and workflow approval issues. When
they make their saves, submissions, or approvals while the server is
staging, users will usually get an error page telling them that there is a
problem with their page, and if they want to continue with that change or
undo it.
Our CMS Server has the following specs:
CMS 2001
Windows 2000 Server SP2
PIII 1.26 GB
1024 MB RAM
The SQL Server 2000 SP4 database is also on the same machine and on the same
partition of a 68 GB drive.
Any help or input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Leon,
during site deployment import the database tables get locked.
That is by design.
You need to ensure that imports are only done during a timeframe where less
traffic hits your site.
