Useing MOM workgroup between Domains. |
|
|
have a questions.
I have installed MOM 2005 and want to install an agent on a server that is
not in the current domain where MOM was installed.
Example:
MOM Installed on a server (single server installation) on domain1 (Windows
2003 Server with latest service packs).
Agent need to be installed on server that is on domain2 (windows 2003 Server
with latest service packs).
The user that I am using is having the administrator level permissions on
both the servers.
When I install the agents in the same domain (in my case domain1), they get
installed successfully. On installation of agent on server that is on domain2
I get the following error
The MOM Server failed to install agent on remote computer <computername>.
Error Code: -2147467259
Error Description: The Agent could not contact the MOM Server.
Microsoft Installer Error Description: No Description Available
There is no firewall between the computers.
how should i do this?
Thanks,
Shahin |

Try making it a manual install, so use the MOM cd-rom on the remote |
compouter and run the agent setup.
other wise you could run the .msi from
\\<mgmtsrv>\c$\program files\Microsoft Operations Manager 2005\x86

Shahin,
This is possible as well, although you should pay attention to the notes
about using MOM in a disjointed DNS namespace if these two forest are not in
a contiguous namespace.
