Cannot Browse Computers at Remote Site |
|
|
Just finished re-installing a 2003 Server after having a major HD crash.
We are connected to our remote site accross town through a PtP T1.
No one at the remote site can connect to the rebuilt server, but can connect
to any of our other servers here. Also the rebuilt server can see assets in
the remote site, but cannot connect to them either.
This is a pretty big problem for us as the server is our Exchange Server as
well a company data files.
The server was our PDC emulator as well as Exchange prior to a complete raid
crash. It is back with the same name and is now only a member server.
Also, I have Routing and Remote Access enabled and pointing to the router
connecting the 2 sites for the subnets at thier end. |

Never mind my stupidity.
Problem was that the computer has 3 internal network adapters, 2 of which I
have disabled in hardware devices but Windows is to smart for it's own good
and sees those 2 ports still in other network enabled programs and my Routing
and Remote Access rule was pointing to one of the disabled ports instead of
the active one.

Running WINS? If so then you have to open the WINS
database and sort by name then delete all instances of the
1b name then reboot your new PDC emuloator. Verify
the existing 1b entry is pointint towards your PDC emulator.
If you are not running WINS then you'll have to check local
lmhosts files.
