what is the primary dns suffix for? |

what is the purpose of the primary dns suffix on a member server used for?
under computer name, change, more
Also the check box change primary suffix when domain membership changes |

And the check box means just what it says. If the box is checked, the
suffix is changed to the new domain suffix when the machine is moved to a
new domain.

Yes. It will determine which zone it registers in. If the suffix is
domain.lcl, the machine will register in the domain.lcl DNS zone.
