Hi,

We are using MOM 2005 with SP1 and installing our agents manually. There is
usually no problems with this method but I experienced a problem with an
Exchange server that had already an agent from the workgroup edition. This
agent was uninstalled and the following folders and regkeys cleaned before
the new agent installation:

C:\Windows\temp\MOM
C:\docs&settings\all users\appl.data\Microsoft\MOM
C:\Program Files\MOM
HKCR: everything that was related with MOM
HKLM: everything in SOFTWARE/Mission Critical Software and
SOFTWARE/Microsoft/MOM

The agent (with SP1) was reinstalled then, but now it does not appears in
Pending actions.
The agent and the MOM server communicate (I made a network sniff and see
that information is exchanges between these 2 servers, even I cannot
understand the content).

Any help is welcome!

Hello,

Thank you for your posting!

Is it possible to deploy the agent by Management Server?

If you have any questions, please feel to let me know. I am glad to be of
assistance.

Hello Daniel,

Thanks for the quick reply. it's not possible because we have no admin
rights on the machine.
Why isn't it possible for the MOM server to see the agent?

I can see that information over the 1271 port is exchanged between the 2
servers.

When I create a discovery rule, the action Install Agent is generated in the
Pending Actions, but that's not what I want.

Any further idea?

Does the computer show up in Unmanaged Computers? Can you telnet to
port 1270 on the management server from the agent? Is the communication
to the management server from the agent occurring on port 1270? You
might also make sure that there isn't a computer discovery rule for
this agent. I have seen that interfere with manual agent installs
showing up in Pending Actions.
