Agent Deployment: Can't Browse for Systems |
|
|
Hi folks. I'm having some trouble deploying agents in a new MOM
environemnt (MOM 2005, SP1.) This is a standalone system which is
connected to a network with 2 domains. When I try to browse for
systems to deploy to from MOM Administrator, I get the following error:
"The program cannot open the required dialog box because no locations
can be found. Close this message and try again."
Any thoughts on why I can't browse for systems on this network? (I can
browse systems from Windows Explorer, Backup Exec, etc.)
Thanks. Grant. |

Hello,
Thank you for your posting!
You need to Create a Computer Discover Rule to Discover the Computers and
then deploy agent on them
If you have any questions, please feel to let me know. I am glad to be of
assistance.

Thanks for the response. I've tried that and I'm having a little
trouble understanding what to put in for the computer name. I figured
that Equals "*" (wildcard) would be the right response, but I get the
following message:
"The computer name entered is not valid."
Here is a sample of what I put in:
Management Server: SERVER001
Rule Type: Include
Domain Name: DOMAINA
Computer Name: Equals *
Computer Type: Servers and Clients
Initial Management Mode: Unmanaged (so it can pick up which ones need
deployment)
What do I need to put in to have it pick up all systems on DOMAINA?
Thanks. Grant. |

Hi Grant, |
It depends on how MOM server acts in the Domain world. As i understand
it is in a Workgroup, therefore it cannot use the process of looking in
the AD. Check out chapter 7 of the deployment guide for the agent
deploying on:
